Painting the interior of your home can give it a fresh new look. Not only does it upgrade the appearance of your home for your personal comfort, it adds value to your home, if you are in the market to sell it.

Our project managers are there to make sure we have the correct amount of paint before we begin your job. This is especially important when we order a customized paint color. It is always better to have more – which can always be used for future touch-ups.

In new construction or after patching we will always prime the walls and ceiling before applying the color. This will increase the longevity of your paint job.

TYPE OF PAINT TO USE
Satin paints are for areas that get the most amount of traffic such as the living room, family room, childrens rooms and hallways

Semi-gloss paints are best for use on bathrooms and kitchens cabinets and trim

Flat paints are good for areas that get the least amount of traffic, such as master bedrooms and closets

CHOOSING BRUSHES AND SUPPLIES
We start by choosing high quality paintbrushes. Either natural or synthetic brushes can be used to paint the interior of your home. Our experienced Project Managers know which is best to use for different interior surfaces, as well as which is best for the type of paint that will be used. The “nap” (thickness) of rollers must be chosen, depending on the texture of your walls.

If you move in to a new house it is better to use a compressor to paint the walls. This is due to the extensive preparation in covering the areas not to be painted. It is the faster and more efficient way to paint and the outcome looks amazing.

PREPARATION
Prior to painting, we will repair any holes to walls; remove any chipped paint and sand surfaces to assure a smooth finish. We always cover the area we are working in and will always take time and consideration if there is a need to move any furniture.

ACOUSTIC CEILING REMOVAL
Some older homes (prior to 1980) may have an ‘outdated’ acoustic ceiling. It is wise to have a professional remove it. Neptune construction will send a sample of your ceiling to the lab to check for crystallite particles in your ceiling texture. In case asbestos is present we will refer you to an excellent asbestos removal company. DO NOT REMOVE ASBESTOS FROM YOUR CEILING BY YOURSELF! This is a daunting project for a layman to undertake; however, our team will be able to handle this safely with efficiency and ease.

COLOR SELECTION
Neptune Construction will assist you with the choice of color for your interior painting project. Matching colors is very important; therefore, we will bring ¼ gallon samples to your home to test for your convenience.
